The Birmingham News reports on its website that Rich Rodriguez and the University of Alabama have reached an "agreement in principal."
ESPN.com is reporting the university will deliver a contract to Rodriguez Friday morning.
Several Alabama newspapers reported Thursday that WVU Head Coach Rich Rodriguez is considering the head coaching job at the University of Alabama.
The Press-Register of Mobile reports the Crimson Tide athletic director offered the job, and Rodriguez is still considering the offer.
An Alabama spokesman says the university does not have anything to report at this time.
Alabama fired Mike Shula on Nov. 26 after the Tide went 6-6 this season.
Rodriguez met Wednesday with West Virginia athletic director Ed Pastilong, and his alma mater plans to spend millions of dollars to upgrade its football facilities.
