December 14, 2006 -- It was never a question of how much talent was on the field in the West Virginia Double-A State Title game. The question was how much of it would be recognized.Today, the answer was handed down by the West Virginia Sports Writers Association.
From that Wayne County superbowl, which was the state title game. Several players from both Wayne and Tolsia high schools were named to the All-State team.
Wayne places title game MVP Justin Gilkerson on the team, but not as a running back, as a utility player, because he also starred at linebacker.
Tolsia's B.J. Evans took home the top honor. The running back was named captain of the first-team, after he ran for 2,874 yards and scored 32 touchdowns in 2006.
Tolsia lineman Jordan Moore and Josh Trogdlon join Evans as rebels on the team.
Wayne also puts running back Travis Thompson and defensive lineman Harry Sowards on the squad.
