Mountaineers roll over Hornets

West Virginia 74, Delaware State 50

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - West Virginia beat Delaware State
74-to-50 tonight in the first round of the N-I-T tournament.
Frank Young scored 17 points to lead West Virginia. Alex Ruoff
added 14 points and nine assists. Jamie Smalligan contributed 13
points and Da'Sean Butler scored nine points for.
Jahsha Bluntt led eighth-seeded Delaware State with 19 points.
Aaron Fleetwood added 14 points.
West Virginia, the top seed in the East Region, had a
16-to-nothing run at the end of the first half and led 39-to-13 at
the break.
Delaware State shot only 36-point-seven percent from the floor
and failed to reach the free throw line for the first time this
season. West Virginia shot 55-point-six percent from the floor and
hit seven three-pointers, including five in the first half. The
Mountaineers were 7-of-10 from the free throw line.
West Virginia coach John Beilein became the fifth Mountaineer
coach to reach 100 wins at the school.
The Mountaineers will host the winner of the
Massachusetts-Alabama game Thursday in the second round.
