Gilbert's Perfect Season Is Over

Bishop Donahue upset previously unbeaten Gilbert 72-to-64 today to earn its first Class Single-A boys basketball championship game berth in 18 years.

Fifth-seeded Bishop Donahue will face defending champion
Charleston Catholic tomorrow at the Charleston Civic Center.

Top-seeded Gilbert lost in the semifinals for the second
straight year. The Lions scored only one basket in the final five
minutes of the game, while Bishop Donahue erased a five-point
deficit and went nine-of-14 from the free-throw line in the final
four minutes.

L-A Hampton and A-J Gordon led Bishop Donahue with 17 points
apiece. Clint Wilson added 14 points. Ken Barrows had 13 rebounds
and seven blocked shots.

Bradley Rawls led Gilbert with 22 points, 14 rebounds and six
steals. Josh Birchfield had 15 points and ten rebounds while Quinn
Miller had 13 points before fouling out with about three minutes
left.
