Huntington moved within a game of winning its third straight Class Triple-A boys basketball championship with a 98-to-59 dismantling of Bridgeport tonight at the Charleston Civic Center.
State player of the year O-J Mayo led Huntington with 26 points,
12 assists and five steals.
Jamal Williams had 19 points, Chris Early 17 and Patrick
Patterson and Bruce Senior ten apiece for Huntington.
Bryant Irwin led fifth-seeded Bridgeport with 23 points.
Top-seeded Huntington scored the first 16 points of the game and
Jamal Williams made a shot just over the halfcourt line for a
55-to-26 halftime advantage. Huntington dunked on seven of its nine
third-quarter baskets, including six in a row to end the period for
a 74-to-43 lead.
