Aaron Dobson scored five points in the final two minutes to lift South Charleston to a 50-to-48 win over Morgantown in the Class Triple-A semifinals tonight (Friday).
Second-seeded South Charleston will face top-seeded Huntington
for the championship tomorrow night. The Highlanders beat South
Charleston during the regular season.
South Charleston and Morgantown exchanged the lead four times
midway through the fourth quarter. Cameron Taylor's layin put
Morgantown ahead 46-to-44 with 2:33 left but Dobson answered with a
three-pointer 32 seconds later, then made a basket in the lane with
a minute left.
Elliott Law followed a steal with a layup for Morgantown with 36
seconds remaining to cut the deficit to 49-to-48.
South Charleston's Aaron Slusher made a free throw with eleven
seconds left for a two-point lead and he missed the second attempt.
Morgantown got the rebound, but Matt Heylinger blocked J-T Lewis'
shot at the final buzzer.
Jay Fletcher led sixth-seeded Morgantown with 14 points and
Lewis had ten.
Dobson finished with 23 points and Slusher had 12.
