Juan Pierre singled home the go-ahead run
during a five-run eighth inning today as the Los Angeles Dodgers
beat the Cincinnati Reds 10-to-5.
Rafael Furcal went four-for-four with a run-scoring bunt and
Nomar Garciaparra had three R-B-I singles for the N-L West leading
Dodgers.
It was the ninth straight time the Dodgers beat the Reds and the
15th in the last 19 meetings.
Ken Griffey Junior homered on Mother's Day for the sixth time in
his career for his 570th, the most by any active player. Griffey
was one of many players using pink bats to help raise breast cancer
awareness.
With the homer, Griffey took sole possession of ninth place on
the career chart.
Jonathan Broxton pitched a perfect eighth for the win. He's
two-and-two. Kirk Saarloos fell to oh-and-three with the loss.
