State Loses Opener

The West Virginia State Yellow Jackets lost their opening round game of the Division II, North Altantic Region baseball tournament.

West Chester defeated the Yellow Jackets 2-0.

The Golden Rams scored both of their runs in the 4th inning.

With a man on second and two outs, Mike Barron struck out a West Chester's Blair Dameron for what appeared to be the third out.

But the ball got past the catcher allowing Dameron to reach first.

Matt Cotellese then hit a single to put the Golden Rames up 1-0.

With the bases loaded, Barron walked Conner Thorp to force in the second run of the inning.

State is scheduled to play Shippensburg Friday morning.
