Power Lose Close Game

The West Virginia Power lost in 10 innings to the August GreenJackets, 4-3, at Appalachian Power Park.

The Power were trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the second when Steve Chapman hit his 6th homer of the year.

Augusta took a 3-1 lead in the top of the 3rd when Brett Pill hit a two out, two run double.

West Virginia tied the game in the ninth.

Pinch hitter John Alonso hit a single that drove in Martin Maldonado.

Two batters later, Brent Brewer hit a sacrifice fly to score Steve Chapman.

Augusta's Sharlon Schoop hit his first home run of the season to give the GreenJackets a 4-3 victory.

Relief pitcher Alex Periard (3-1) took the loss, despite giving up only 1 run in 5 innings.

The Power (28-14) saw their Northern Division lead lowered to 2 1/2 games over Greensboro.
