Ryan Freel Takes A Break

The Cincinnati Reds today placed outfielder Ryan Freel on the 15-day disabled list and called up Dewayne Wise from Triple-A Louisville.

Freel suffered contusions to his head and neck in a frightening
collision with right fielder Norris Hopper yesterday in a game
against Pittsburgh.

Freel lay motionless for several minutes before he was taken off
the field on a stretcher.

The 31-year-old Freel was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in
Cincinnati, where C-T scans and M-R-Is on his neck and head were

Freel is scheduled to see a head and spine specialist tomorrow.

Wise is hitting .256 with seven home runs and 19 R-B-Is in 44
games with Louisville this season.
