HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) - Ex-Marshall quarterback Byron Leftwich
is among seven former Herd athletes elected to the university's
Hall of Fame.
Leftwich isn't expected to attend this year's induction on
October 26th due to commitments with the N-F-L's Jacksonville
Jaguars that weekend. He will be inducted at a later date.
Leftwich finished sixth in the Heisman Trophy voting in 2002,
despite playing with a broken bone in his leg. He was the
Mid-American Conference player of the year that season.
Leftwich is the MAC leader in career yards completions
completion percentage and total offense.
Other athletes elected include football and baseball players
Mike Bartrum, Aaron Ferguson and Mike Kaufman; basketball standout
Rodney Holden; all-American defensive lineman Billy Lyon, and the
late Frank Huffman in football.
