Winfield High School has hired a new head football coach.
The Putnam County school approved the hiring of Willie Wilson on Tuesday and notified him yesterday.
Wilson has been serving as an assistant football coach at Cabell Midland and is also head coach of the defending Class Triple-A champion Huntington High softball team.
Wilson says he doesn't really want to give up coaching softball and would like to defend the title next year, but he says he'll decide next fall what's best for both programs.
At Winfield, Wilson takes over a program that won just three games last year.
