No Seeding for WV High School Basketball

The WV Secondary School Activities Commission's Board of Directors has rejected a proposal to seed high school basketball teams throughout postseason play.

The board voted 6-to-3 Tuesday to reject the proposal offered by Ravenswood boys basketball coach Mick Price.

It would have seeded teams from top to bottom in the sectionals. The 16 surviving regional finalists would have been reseeded, with the lower seeds traveling to play a higher seed in another region.

Currently, teams aren't seeded until they reach the state tournament.

Some of the principals on the board were concerned about losing gate receipts if the sectionals were taken away from their gymnasiums.
