CINCINNATI (AP) - Vladimir Guerrero's bases-loaded single in the
seventh inning rallied the Los Angeles Angels to a 9-to-7 win today
over the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ballpark.
The Angels took two of three in the series. Bartolo Colon (6-2)
got the victory despite trailing when he left the game after the
sixth.
At 42-and-25, the Angels are off to the best start in franchise
history.
Reds rookie Homer Bailey took a lead into the seventh inning,
but walked the first two batters he faced, and then Cincinnati's
bullpen imploded again. Gary Majewski (muh-JEHS'-kee) suffered the
loss.
Ken Griffey Junior and Alex Gonzalez homered for the Reds.
Griffey's solo shot was the 579th of his career, leaving him
four behind Mark McGwire for seventh place.
