NEW YORK (AP) - Greg Oden is the Number One.
The Portland Trail Blazers settled months of debate tonight when
they chose Oden over fellow freshman Kevin Durant with the top pick
in a highly anticipated N-B-A draft.
Portland opted for the 7-footer from Ohio State who can dominate
a game with his defense over the sensational scoring of Durant. In
any other year, Durant might have parlayed his standing after one
of the most sensational freshman seasons in N-C-A-A history into
the Number One pick.
In the end, Portland opted for Oden and a franchise center,
which are hard to find in the N-B-A ranks.
