The West Virginia University women's basketball team has started practicing for a summer tour in Australia -- the team's first foreign excursion in four years.

Under N-C-A-A rules, the Mountaineers must practice ten days
before leaving for the "Land Down Under" on August Fifth.

While in Australia, W-V-U will play five games against
Australian teams. The games will be played in Sydney and Cairns.

The players will also do some sightseeing. The scheduled stops
include the Great Barrier Reef and Sydney's famed Opera House.

The team returns home August 17th.

The eleven players making the trip do not include any recent
transfers or freshmen because newcomers are not permitted to travel
under N-C-A-A regulations.

W-V-U last competed outside the country in the 2003-2004 season,
when it played in the Paradise Jam Classic in the U-S Virgin
