LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - University of Kentucky football coach Rich
Brooks says senior receiver Steve Johnson will play Saturday
against Eastern Kentucky, despite his arrest on traffic and
resisting arrest charges.
Records show Johnson was arrested last night in Lexington, but
was released after paying a fine of $572, which included his bond,
a previous traffic fine of $189 and court costs.
Brooks said the issues concerning Johnson will be dealt with
internally. He added (in these words) "We will let the case
resolve itself. Stevie Johnson has been nothing but an outstanding
citizen since he has been here and I expect that will continue."
Brooks said that Johnson was on the way to the hospital to see
teammate David Jones, who is recovering from an emergency
appendectomy when police pulled him over.
