CHARLESTON, W. Va. – The University of Charleston netted 14-of-18 free throws down the stretch to hold off No. 1 West Liberty 101-96 Monday evening.
The Golden Eagles were paced by Robbie Dreher’s game-high 21 points. He connected on five-of-eight shooting from the floor and 11-of-15 from the charity stripe. Dreher also dished out a team-high four assists. Terrell Lipkins had 20 points and four steals while Aleksander Kesic totaled 20 points and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds. Evan Faulkner tallied 15 markers while Xavier Humphrey chipped in 11.
The Hilltoppers were led by C.J. Hester’s 20 points and 14 rebounds. Alex Falk contributed 20 points and five assists to go along with three steals. Cedric Harris tallied 15 points, six assists and four steals while Chris Morrow added 15 markers and seven rebounds. Tim Hausfeld amassed nine points and seven assists.
For the game, the Golden Eagles connected on 49.1 percent of their shots from the field while the Hilltoppers netted 44.7 percent of their attempts. UC canned 40-of-55 charity shots while WLU made 13-of-24. The Hilltoppers hit 15 three-point shots to five by the Golden Eagles.
