HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) - Shaquille Stokes netted 26 points, including 10 in overtime, as Hofstra beat Marshall 103-100 in double overtime Sunday.
All of Stokes' overtime points came in the latter frame. He put the Pride (3-2) up 94-89 with two free throws and a 3-pointer to begin the second overtime and closed it with four free-throws.
The Herd's Elijah Pittman drained a 3-pointer with seven seconds left in regulation to send the game to overtime.
Hofstra led 78-70 with 4:03 left, but two Chris Martin 3-pointers capped a 10-2 Marshall (2-3) run that knotted the game 80-all. David Imes and Stevie Mejia each made two free throws and Stokes added one more as the Pride took an 85-82 lead, setting up Pittman's 3-pointer.
In the first overtime, Imes drained a free throw to tie the game 89-89 with 23 seconds left, but missed his second attempt, leading to the second overtime.
MST: Americans represent exactly one-third of Sunday's Indy 500 field. It's been six years since a U.S. driver has won the prestigious race and Ed Carpenter holds the pole.
