Marshall Beats South Carolina State in Opener

(HUNTINGTON, WV) Marshall overcame a shaky start at home on Friday night and overpowered South Carolina State 85-69 in the Herd's opener.

Senior Elijah Pittman made 5 three pointers and scored a career high 31 points to lead the Herd to the win.

Freshman Ryan Taylor added 17 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Kareem Canty tossed in 15 points and 5 assists in their Marshall debut.

Marshall returns to the Henderson Center Tuesday night to take on Rio Grande, coached by Huntington native Ken French.
