Marshall quarterbacks coach and co-offensive coordinator, Tony Petersen, is resigning to become offensive coordinator at Louisiana Tech.
Petersen has had two different coaching stints at Marshall and spent the last three years coaching quarterbacks. He's been instrumental in developing Marshall quarterback Rakeem Cato, who led the nation in passing this season. Marshall's offense averaged 41 points per game last season.
"It was a touch decision to leave Marshall," Petersen told WSAZ. "But I'm excited to have the chance to be an offensive coordinator."
Petersen was a former star quarterback for Marshall and will be joining the staff of former East Carolina and South Florida head coach Skip Holtz.
