CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Mychal Johnson had 17 points, 14 assists and 10 rebounds to lead top-seeded St. Joseph past Man 89-29 in the girls Class A quarterfinals Wednesday night.
Four-time defending champion St. Joseph (23-1) led 29-0 after the first quarter and 51-13 at halftime.
Johnson's assists broke the Class A tournament record of 12 set by Montcalm's Stephanie Davis in 1987. Johnson also had nine steals to fall just short of a quadruple-double.
Griffin Dempsey led St. Joseph with 27 points. Freshman Mychelle Johnson scored 16 and Asia Petitte had 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Summer Sword had 13 points for eighth-seeded Man (15-11), which was in the tournament for the first time since 2008.
