HUNTINGTON, W.Va (WSAZ) -- The Thundering Herd will battle East Carolina in the first round of the C-USA softball tournament.
Official pairings have been announced for the C-USA softball tournament and Marshall may have been assigned the most interesting match up of the first round. The Herd and East Carolina Pirates will meet up in Tulsa Oklahoma as the 4th and 5th seed respectively.
The Herd and Pirates only met in one series this season. Back in April the series didn’t turn out ideally for the girls in green. During the three games of that series the Herd lost 11-1, 17-6, and 10-4.
The girls ended up with the fourth seed after topping off a successful season with a series win this weekend against UTEP. They split two games on Saturday, falling in the first game 6-4 and bouncing back with a 4-2 win in the night cap.
One major X-Factor in the series this time around may be 2012 second team All C-USA pitcher Andi Williamson. The Senior pitcher missed five games earlier this season due to a concussion. Three of those games were the series against East Carolina. You can be assured that offense will be at a premium when these teams meet in the tournament.
The game takes place this Thursday at 8:00 pm/ET in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
