HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- For the first time in five years, the Herd will face off against Morehead State.
Tuesday, Marshall University announced the four-year contract.
The two teams haven't played since 2007. Marshall won that game 69-56.
"I believe everyone is excited to renew the series with Morehead State," said Marshall head coach Tom Herrion. "In my first two years, so many people have asked us to help continue the long and respected rivalry. We have great respect for their school and basketball program and especially their recent success under coach (Donnie) Tyndall. I am confident that the great fans of both universities will turn out as we renew this series."
The first game will be hosted at Marshall, and will alternate locations over the next four years.
"Our fans are excited about this game. Morehead St. has had a very successful program and it only makes sense to continue this rivalry," said Coach Herrion in a tweet Tuesday.
