HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Marshall's Doc Holliday and Tom Herrion are very visible parts of the Huntington community, as is the Huntington Police Department.

Tuesday night, the three came together to gain a better respect for one another.

The coaches jumped in front seat of two police cruisers to see what police do on a night to night basis. It's all about respecting each other.

"I'm anxious to get out and see. These guys have a tough job. My dad was a judge and a prosecutor for years. So I understand a little bit, but I'm looking forward to it," said Doc Holliday, MU Head Football Coach.

"I think it's all about a mutual respect. We certainly expect that respect. We owe them respect as well and that goes for any citizen for that matter. So it is a two way street here,” said Skip Holbrook, Huntington Police Chief.

The players take over next. Through the summer two football players will ride along with the police on Friday nights and then in the fall two of Herrion's basketball players will do the same.
