HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Head women’s basketball coach Matt Daniel has announced the addition of Huntington, W.Va. native Sara Sang to the 2012 women’s basketball roster.

Sang, a transfer from the United States Naval Academy, played high school basketball for Saint Joseph Central Catholic High School from 2007-11.

The 6’0 forward averaged 18.4 points, 11 rebounds, 2.1 steals, and 1.2 blocks during her senior year and was honored as a 1st team All-State selection during her junior and senior season.

She was selected as a McDonald’s All-American nominee and a Wendy’s Heisman state finalist during her high school career.

A three-time state champion, Sang was also named to the West Virginia All-Tournament team during her sophomore, junior, and season year and ended her career with 1,427 points.

“We are happy Sara has chosen to be a part of what we are going to accomplish,” said Daniel. “She is the type of young lady that we want to represent our program on and off the floor. We anticipate that she will simply play hard and act right and have a great time doing it.”

Sang will join fellow newcomers Jennifer Ramirez and Norrisha Victrum as the 2012 freshman class.
