(HUNTINGTON, WV) Marshall men’s basketball coach Tom Herrion has announced the signing of Ryan Taylor to a National Letter of Intent.
Taylor, a 6-5, 200-pound, small forward from Indianapolis, Ind. averaged 22 points and 11 rebounds for Hargrave Military Academy (Va.). Coached by former Marshall point guard A.W. Hamilton, Taylor led Hargrave to a 38-1 record and a No. 2 prep school national ranking.
"Ryan is a great addition to our Marshall basketball family,” Herrion said. “We are truly excited to add such a terrific player and person. Ryan had a tremendous season playing for coach Hamilton at Hargrave and comes from arguably the best prep school program in the country. Ryan has great versatility and will only continue to get better."
Prior to Hargrave, Taylor attended Western High School in Louisville, Ky. and scored 24 points and 10 rebounds in the 2010-11 Kentucky-Indiana All-Star game. Taylor started his high school career at Lawrence North High School in Indianapolis and as a junior, averaged 27.6 points, 14.2 rebounds, 4.2 blocks, 4.1 assists and 3.3 steals per game while being named first-team all-state.
Taylor joins Kareem Canty, Elijah Pittman, Tamron Manning and D.D. Scarver as players that have signed to play for the 2012-13 season.
