MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - Joe Alexander scored 22 points to lead
West Virginia to a 110-44 win over Maryland-Eastern Shore tonight
in Morgantown.
The Mountaineers went on a 22-1 run to take a 46-13 lead with
2:52 left in the first half. Alexander showcased his entire
arsenal, dunking twice and hitting a jumper and an inside basket to
score eight points during the run.
Alex Ruoff added 17 and John Flowers came off the bench to score
14 for West Virginia.
Denzel Jackson and Ed Tyson scored 10 apiece for
Maryland-Eastern Shore.
The Mountaineers led 52-18 at the half and took their largest
lead on Flowers' free throw with 1:56 left that made it 106-36.
West Virginia had a 45-31 advantage in rebounding and scored 52
points in the paint. It also turned 27 Maryland-Eastern Shore
turnovers into a season-best 44 points. West Virginia had 31
assists and tallied 10 blocks and 11 steals.
Maryland-Eastern Shore shot a season-worst 25.5 percent, missing
41 of 55 shots.
