WINFIELD, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Two Winfield High School football have signed national letters of intent to continue there football careers.
Kicker Andy Ellington will play at Concord College. Quarterback Tyler Cornwell will play at Alderson Broadus.
The student-athletes signed their letters during a ceremony at Winfield High School Wednesday. According to a press release, Andy and Tyler have been friends since elementary school. In 2008, Winfield High School became a ‘AAA’ school and formed the first Freshman football team. In order to have a team they needed one more player, so Tyler recruited his friend and soccer player, Andy, to be their kicker.
It was a first for both, Andy had never played football and Tyler had never been a quarterback.
During the past season, Andy broke the West Virginia field goal record and Tyler was Winfield’s starting quarterback.

Jude, a running back at Johnson Central High School has signed a letter on intent to play for Eastern Kentucky University. Jude is Kentucky's all time leading rusher. JACKSON COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) -- Two Jackson County football players are heading to play football at Division I colleges..
Wednesday, Chris Fairchild, from Oak Hill, signed a letter of intent with Kent State University.
Also Wednesday, Jaylen Prater, from Wellston, signed a letter with Northwestern University.
