MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - West Virginia's 2008 football schedule includes four games that have already been picked up for national television.

Those include an ABC-televised contest at Pitt - the team that knocked the Mountaineers out of national championship contention last year - on Nov. 28.

ESPN has agreed to air a Sept. 18 game at Colorado and an Oct. 23 home game with Auburn, and either ESPN or ESPN2 will televise a Dec. 6 home game with USF.

WVU's schedule, announced Monday, has seven home games, starting with the Aug. 30 season opener against Villanova. The home game with in-state rival Marshall is Sept. 27.

The five away contests include a Nov. 1 date with Connecticut, the team the Mountaineers shared the 2007 Big East title with.

WVU 2008 Schedule:

Sat. Aug. 30 Villanova
Sat. Sept. 6 at East Carolina
Thur. Sept. 18 at Colorado (ESPN)
Sat. Sept. 27 Marshall
Sat. Oct. 4 Rutgers
Sat. Oct. 11 Syracuse (Homecoming)
Thur. Oct. 23 Auburn (ESPN)
Sat. Nov. 1 at Connecticut
Sat. Nov. 8 Cincinnati (Mountaineer Week)
Sat. Nov. 22 at Louisville
Fri. Nov. 28 at Pitt (ABC)
Sat. Dec. 6 USF (ESPN or ESPN2)

I agree with douglas. WVU can still get into the top 15 this year. Once we smack Cincinnati and Pittsburgh, we should be set for a BCS game.

I think it's weird that people are still posting comments on a newscast that occured 9 months ago....

I am jjst happy to get to watch a football team that plays exciting football, wins more then we lose, and has some really great young men on the team. The fact that West BY GAWD Virginia can get to the top ten is a blessing that we should recognize and appreciate. I think we can get back to the top 15 this year, with some help, maybe a BCS game.

let your beloved "herd" play that schedule, doubt they could beat theirselves, much less any one of those teams listed

Posted by: Anonymous on Aug 8, 2008 at 02:09 AM
Geez!!! is that a weak schedule or what. No wonder you "university southern penn" fans think your so great. I'd be embarrassed to play a schedule so similar to the Herds and talk smack like you do. National title my butt.

Hope you guys taped the Fiesta Bowl because that is as close you will ever come again to a BCS game. This January WVU fans can sit at home in their trailer, drink beer, and watch Michigan play in a BCS game. While the whole time cussing Coach Rod and how he had wronged WVU. Please he was just looking for a quick way out of that dump you call Morgantown.

yeah, with a weak schedule every year you should at least 9-10 games. come on MU, ECU, Colorado??? only 1-2 tough games, Auburn and your dreaded USF.

WVU is probably going to be 10 and 2 this year and go to another good bowl. Auburn and USF are going to be tuff. Go Eers and keep up the tradition.
