Memphis Grizzlies rookie O.J. Mayo is among the players chosen
for a select team that will scrimmage against the U.S. Olympic team
next week.
Ten players were picked for the team Wednesday and two more will
be taken from the Las Vegas summer league, which ends Sunday.
Among the others chosen for the select team are NBA Rookie of
the Year Kevin Durant of Oklahoma City and No. 1 overall draft pick
Derrick Rose.
USA Basketball managing director Jerry Colangelo says it's an
opportunity for the select team players to get into the USA
Basketball pipeline. Some may end up playing on a U.S. team in the
2010 world championships or 2012 Olympics.
