HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) - Mark Cann has been named Marshall's
starting quarterback for Saturday's season opener against Illinois
State.
The 6-foot-4 redshirt freshman was on top of the depth chart
released Tuesday by coach Mark Snyder. Sophomore Brian Anderson
will be Cann's backup. Anderson was Bernard Morris' backup last
season.
Snyder says the quarterback position was viewed as a weak link
entering preseason camp. But he says Cann has improved every day
and has done a good job running the offense.
