Marshall's baseball program has been promised a new baseball field for the past 50 plus years, and the fans will have to be a little more patient to get its field of dreams.
The school announced in a news release yesterday that "construction of new baseball and softball fields will occur in conjunction with this endeavor." The endeavor is a $94 million dollar building project that's being undertaken by Capstone Development Corporation and the state of West Virginia.
However, the $94 million dollars does not include the funding to pay for the baseball facility.
The news release goes on to say the location and construction of the baseball and softball fields will be announced at a later date.
Currently, Marshall plays its home Conference USA games at Appalachian Power Park in Charleston. The Herd plays its non conference home games at University Heights, which doesn't meet CUSA standards for a baseball facility.
