IRVIN TO SEATTLE SEAHAWKS
NEW YORK, N.Y. (WSAZ) -- Bruce Irvin did not have to wait long to hear his name called on draft night. Irvin's NFL future will take him from Morgantown to Seattle where the Seahawks selected him with the 15th overall pick in the NFL Draft.
Irvin impressed scouts at the NFL Combine with the fastest 40-yard dash time posted by any defensive end prospect at 4.50 seconds. Still, Irvin was projected by most analysts as an early second round pick. The Seahawks selected Irvin ahead of North Carolina's Quinton Coples, who was considered the top defensive end pick in the draft. Coples was selected one pick later at 16th overall by the New York Jets.
Irvin recorded 8.5 sacks in 2011 for the Mountaineers while helping the team to an Orange Bowl victory against Clemson.
