Susan Nicholas co-anchors Wake Up, Sunrise and Today newscasts.
Susan gets up at 3 in the morning to start her day at WSAZ. This early riser doesn't mind the crazy hours. Susan wakes up early even on her days off to see what's going on and prepare for the day ahead. You can see Susan every Thursday and Friday morning alongside Rob Johnson and Brandon Butcher. She and Melanie Shaffer split the week on the morning anchor desk. This is a perfect shift for both moms.
Susan grew up watching WSAZ. She's from Milton, West Virginia and is a graduate of Marshall University. It was during college that Susan began her career at various radio stations and as a reporter for WSAZ on the weekends.
She is married to former WSAZ reporter, Doug Korstanje. They met while covering a Huntington City Council meeting. How romantic! You can catch a glimpse of both of them in the movie, "Mothman Prophesies." If you blink though you'll miss them.
When Susan isn't working at WSAZ she's still working. She's the mother of two girls who keep her busy with their after school activities. Susan is also active with Tri-State Literacy Council, St. Paul Lutheran Church, PTA and West Virginia Writers.
