Hello! Thanks for taking the time to read a little more about me. I'm one of the newest members to the WSAZ NewsChannel 3 family and First Warning weather team. It's a thrill to be working at a station I grew up watching! That's right, I'm a local guy. I'm from Gallia County Ohio. I grew up in the Gallipolis and Crown City areas. Most of my family still lives in the tri-state.
Weather has always been my passion. It was the great blizzard of 1993 that sparked my interest in meteorology. I remember watching Tony Cavalier warning the tri-state about the approaching storm. When it hit, the morning of March 13th, I awoke to white out conditions! I had never experienced anything like it before. The snow was so deep by the next day, my younger brother and I couldn't go out and play in it. The snow drifts were nearly over my head! After the snow melted, I wanted to know what caused the storm to form in the first place. I checked out as many weather books I could find in the local library. So, since that event, I've been hooked!
After graduating from Gallia Academy high school, I attended Mississippi State University -- studying broadcast meteorology and geography. During my summers, I interned at a nearby CBS affiliate. I was fortunate enough to land my first job in TV weather at WOAY-TV 4. It's the ABC station in the Oak Hill, Beckley and Bluefield, WV, market. I spent more than three years there. I left as chief meteorologist.
Feel free to e-mail me with your weather questions and comments.
