CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The direct flight from Charleston to New York City will come to end this summer.
A spokesperson with Yeager Airport tells WSAZ.com the American Airline's flight will be discontinued on June 12, the same day the company begins its direct flight to Dallas.
American Airlines made the decision because the Dallas flight will be more profitable for the company, according to Brian Belcher. The flight to Dallas offers passengers more connecting flights and international travel than from New York City.
Belcher says Yeager Airport officials are currently working to find another airline to offer the direct flight to New York City.
The airport is also looking for another carrier to pick up a direct flight to Orlando, Florida. Yeager Airport in Charleston lost the Orlando flight last year when Southwest bought Air Tran.
