HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- It might not be a bad time to revisit those old-fashioned car pools. Drivers are feeling some big time pain at the pump, after a recent surge in gas prices.

Around the country, gas prices jumped about $.20 this week, all because of problems on the other side of the world. Economists say unrest in Egypt and Libya have caused the price of a barrel of oil to skyrocket, in turn, hitting your wallet in the worst way.

In West Virginia, the average price of gas Tuesday was $3.38. In Kentucky, the average is $3.36. In Ohio -- where prices went up $.30 in one week -- gas is $3.37, on average.

Economists say the price of filling up will get worse before it gets better. If it's any consolation, folks in California are really feeling it. Golden State residents, on average, are paying $3.80 a gallon. Experts estimate gas could climb to a national average of $4.00.
