KPCC's 21st Annual Jim Dent Dinner

Date(s): 10/21/2014

6:00pm

Embassy Suites Charleston, WV 300 Court Street 25301
The 2014 Dent Dinner will be held Tuesday, October 21 at Embassy Suites Charleston.
The dinner will feature returning entertainer Jeanne Robertson whose stories about her husband "Left Brain" represent the tradition of Southern storytelling at it's finest.

The Jim Dent Dinner is KPCC’s annual fundraising event. Proceeds from the Dent Dinner fund our client assistance program. KPCC serves over 1000 clients a year; with more than half of our clients not having health insurance. Each year, KPCC offers more than $200,000 in fee subsidies. When you purchase a ticket to the Dent Dinner, 50% of the cost is a charitable donation to the work of KPCC. Corporate sponsorships also are available and encouraged. Tickets are $75.00.

The proceeds from the dinner help KPCC focus on our mission: helping people have better relationships with themselves and others by providing counseling and community workshops at an affordable rate in the context of a spiritual, bigger picture, appreciation of life.
Tickets are available by calling Kanawha Pastoral Counseling Center at 304-346-9689.

Power of the Purse Power of 100 Event

Date(s): 6/6/2014

7:00pm

the Renaissance Ballroom, 900 Eighth Street in Huntington
Imagine having the power to make a difference in our community.

Power of the Purse is hosting its first Power of 100 event on Friday, June 6 at 7 p.m. at the Renaissance Ballroom, 900 Eighth Street in Huntington. A wine and cheese reception will be followed by a brief meeting.

The purpose of the event is to gather 100 women with a willingness to donate $100 to a deserving charity. The goal is to present a $10,000 donation to a 501(c)(3) charity that benefits local woman and children. Approximately 10 local charities have been nominated by members of Power of the Purse. A random drawing during the Friday evening event will select three charities. Donors in attendance will vote on one of the three charities selected. The charity with the most votes will receive the donation.

This simple, meaningful and powerful fundraising concept was inspired by a group in Minnesota that has hosted quarterly events for the past few years with great success. The concept is appealing because it is so simple.

To participate in the event or if you are unable to attend but would like to have your donation of $100 included in the Power of 100, contact Kathy Hegg at 304-617-1018 or Anne McGee at 304-638-3024.

Power of the Purse is a women’s philanthropic group dedicated to improving the lives of women and children in our community. Power of the Purse is an affinity group of United Way of the River Cities.
