Bike and Walk MS Country Roads Ride
The Greenbrier White Sulphur Springs, WV
2014 welcomes the 24th annual Bike MS: Country Roads Ride on August 30-31, 2014. Our annual destination ride hopes to attract over 300 cyclists raising over $200,000 to help create a world free of multiple sclerosis. The two -day cycling adventure offers three route options: a 120 mile road route, a 150 mile road route, and a 120 mile Trail Trek along the entire length of the Greenbrier River Trail. The Country Roads Ride takes cyclists through the scenic area of Greenbrier and Pocahontas counties in southern West Virginia. Sneaking a peak at Senator Rockefeller’s country side home and riding right through Greenbank Observatory, our road cyclists take in some of West Virginia’s most beautiful territory. The Greenbrier River Trail has been called West Virginia’s premier rail to trail conversion and the miles just fly by when you are immersed in nature as only the Greenbrier River Trail can bring it to you. New this year CRR trail riders will experience every inch of the 77 mile abandoned grade. Our Bike MS event begins at the Historic Greenbrier Resort, a national historic landmark, with classic architecture, exquisite interior design, carefully sculpted landscape, impeccable service and outstanding amenities. Cyclists then pedal to Cass Scenic Railroad State Park, located at the foot of Snowshoe Mountain in the heart of Pocahontas County, West Virginia, one of the highest elevated counties in the East and set in the middle of the Monongahela National Forest. Cyclists enjoy a celebration dinner with breathtaking views and an overnight stay then return the next day to the finish line on The Greenbrier’s North Lawn for a celebration picnic provided by The Greenbrier. Unlike racing events, this event is designed to provide a scenic, challenging route for both the experienced cyclist and the energetic novice.
