Power of the Purse Power of 100 Event
the Renaissance Ballroom, 900 Eighth Street in Huntington
Imagine having the power to make a difference in our community.
Power of the Purse is hosting its first Power of 100 event on Friday, June 6 at 7 p.m. at the Renaissance Ballroom, 900 Eighth Street in Huntington. A wine and cheese reception will be followed by a brief meeting.
The purpose of the event is to gather 100 women with a willingness to donate $100 to a deserving charity. The goal is to present a $10,000 donation to a 501(c)(3) charity that benefits local woman and children. Approximately 10 local charities have been nominated by members of Power of the Purse. A random drawing during the Friday evening event will select three charities. Donors in attendance will vote on one of the three charities selected. The charity with the most votes will receive the donation.
This simple, meaningful and powerful fundraising concept was inspired by a group in Minnesota that has hosted quarterly events for the past few years with great success. The concept is appealing because it is so simple.
To participate in the event or if you are unable to attend but would like to have your donation of $100 included in the Power of 100, contact Kathy Hegg at 304-617-1018 or Anne McGee at 304-638-3024.
