A Pew internet project poll suggests some people just like good old dial up over high speed broadband internet connections. Get this -- only 14% of dial up users say they're stuck with it because they can't get broadband in their neighborhoods.

35% say they still have dial up because broadband costs too much and another 19% say nothing could get them to change.

But broadband has made a large market penetration, 55% of American internet users now have broadband access.

Here's your chance to put down that cell phone the next time you hit the road. A non profit group called freeheadset.org is offering headphones for free or discounted prices.

The site was established to keep cell phone users from breaking the law in several states by freeing up their hands while driving. Freeheadset.org has distributed more than 200,000 units since 2003.

Uhhh... Dialup is the only choice here too.. and Sattellite, Uhh NO WAY.. not for 500.00 up front, and then 100.00 per month.. a lot more outrageous than my budget will allow, so I guess I have to stick to an almighty 49.2 Kbps for what is seeming... like FOREVER!

I get my broadband for free. I look for a signal and get on line, at 52 mbps. In my area just about everyone has broadband. So I indulge

Unfortunately, we were told by ConnectedNation in August 2007 that we'd be wired by early 2008 around here. Where is ConnectedNation? Where is the high-speed internet? Seems to like a great big sham, and I'm disappointed in this "non-profit organization" who gave us nothing but empty promises.
