RUSSELL, KY (WSAZ) -- If you think summertime means a break from learning, think again! Some local students have traded the pool and parties for computers and tech training.
It's all part of Camp Revamp, where young children are learning some complex subjects. The students range from 1st grade through 8th grade.
"Were learning how to use power point," 9-year-old Zach Raich said. "Tomorrow we're probably going to learn how to use Excel."
Keri Renfroe is a technology instructor at Russell High School.. Her task this week isn't easy. She has to talk tech with pre-teens.
"These kids know more about technology than most of their parents do," Renfroe said. "It's really amazing to me how much these kids can absorb, if given the opportunity."
Keri and the other instructors at Tech Camp are hoping their young students soak in the information and get excited about technology.
"Most people just enjoy this stuff so much they just can't stay away, just like me," Andrew Robinson said. "I just can't stay away from this stuff."
Andrew had the chance to go to other summer camps, but he passed just to learn how to rebuild computers, learn new software and just have some plain old fun.
"With other camps and stuff, Its more outside get your fire going," Robinson said. "There's not much science to it."
The camp, which is at the Russell Area Technology Center, runs through Friday.
