HUNTINGTON, W.Va (WSAZ-TV) -- Watching online videos is fun, but imagine taking those videos from the small screen of your computer to the big screen of your television.
It's possible, and it's not as hard as you may think. So, let's start with the basics. First, you need a TV with multiple inputs. If you have a new HDTV, you're in luck. Those newer televisions have plenty of inputs to hook your computer up to your TV.
Next up, of course, you have got to have that computer. Laptops can be a little easier because of portability. But here's where things get important. You need a cable to run from your PC to your TV. This connection can be made with two simple cables: one being a video cable, and the other needs to be an audio cable.
You have a lot of options for video cables. Most all TVs have a VGA input. This is the cable most computers use to go from the computer to the computer screen.
If you don't have that, try the HDMI cable if you're running high definition from your laptop to your TV. There's also a few other options. Your TV may need a DVI cable or, if all else fails, you should be able to use an S-VIDEO cable.
Don't forget to pick up an audio cable. In most cases you can plug the audio cable from your PCs headphone jack to your TVs audio input.
Bottom line: do your homework. Find out which inputs work with your TV before heading out to buy your cables.
If you are still having problems, try going to Google.com or Bing.com and type in "PC to TV." There should be plenty of websites to walk you through the process.
