HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- With spring quickly approaching, many people are probably getting ready for some outdoor fun, like bicycle riding.

Many are also turning to bikes as a way to be more green while commuting to work.

Whether for work or fun, the folks behind Google maps have hooked riders up with a service worth checking out -- Bicycle maps.

Enter in two addresses and Google's new Bicycle mapping service displays a suggested route on a detailed map, utilizing bicycle paths and trails, sidewalks, bike lanes and back roads that will let riders safely and efficiently peddle to their destination.

Detail of the maps are amazing. Users can zoom in and find other routes. They can also adjust their routes by putting their cursor on it and dragging it a new way.

There are turn-by-turn text directions, too, with photos that clearly mark each change in direction, displaying a street level view of the route.

The maps also display live traffic reports and construction alerts so riders know what they're pedaling into. The maps also show where traffic bottlenecks are at certain times during the day.

Google worked with biking groups and bike trail organizations to build the service -- and it shows. There are more than 12,000 miles of trails in 150 cities already in the database and more on the way.
