CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Samsung is about to release a brand new smartphone that takes the Droid device to a new level.

The Samsung Droid Charge is set to release soon on Verizon Wireless. The device will operate on Verizon Wireless' new 4G LTE Network, which the company claims is 10 times faster than 3G. The Charge comes loaded with a 1GHz processor, and runs Android 2.2 Froyo.

One of the first things you'll notice about the Droid Charge is it's beautiful 4.3-inch touchscreen. It's called Super AMOLED (which stands for Super Active-Matrix Organic Light-Emitting Diode). All you need to know is that it makes your pictures, videos and web look outstanding.

The Charge also has an 8MP rear-facing camera, along with a 1.3MP front-facing camera for video chat. The phone also comes with all of the usuals, including Wi-fi, Bluetooth, GPS and even has an HDMI port.

The Charge comes with the ability to connect up to 10 mobile hotspots. That makes it great to carry with any laptop, tablet or other Internet-ready device.

Overall, Myers was impressed by the screen on this phone. Samsung makes quality products, especially when it comes to LED screens. The phone's Internet speed on the 4G LTE network is great and very fast, but the phone itself lags somewhat. The Samsung Droid Charge is a solid phone, but (as always) make sure you weight your options before making your purchase.
