The City of Saint Albans is considering an increase of the water service by 50%. Now the City of Charleston has jumped on that bandwagon too with the sewer increase. My gas bill was 169.00 this month, and I am worried how to pay it. How much more do these people want from us? They won't be happy until we have picked out pockets clean to give to them. I guess groceries and gas for the car are out this month, because I need heat and water.

Connie, how old was this kid. This is terrible. Even if she is 17 its terrible. I for one thought that parents and gaurdians had to be notified when a child goes to the hospital. I thought they had to have our permission to touch them. If I were you, I would look into this a little more. I hope you find the answers your looking for.

More bad smells in WV--Could you tell me why a girl could go to a hospital like Womens and Childrens, high on drugs, and in labor, have her baby, ask nacotic pain med and recieve it?? And please tell me why the baby was not checked for drug addiction when the mother was a known methadone user throughout her pregnancy?? Not to mention other prescription narcotics and illegal street drugs. Her baby was delivered and not a word was said about her being high or about maybe, just maybe drugs being in the babys system. Seems like no one cares about the babies anymore. Something sure STINKS here in WV

NO I wouldn't touch the things nor flip them from a vehicle. However, I am a firm believer that if others wish to kill themselves that is fine. If you are someplace that someone is smoking-LEAVE. Use your brain.

Not too long ago I was asking myself "where in the world are these young people getting the prescription drugs they are overdosing with?" Well, that question was recently answered in part for me. I have custody of my granddaughter who had a upper respiratory infection. She thought I was not doing enough for her and caught the bus with a friend and got treatment at a local hospital ER. Now, I was never contacted by this ER, even though I later learned that she had given them my correct address and phone number. (What do you want to bet I can be expecting a big bill really soon?) They gave her several prescriptions.I called to see why I was not notified of her being in the ER. I was told I did not have to be notified, they could treat her without notifying my. So I asked this question--if she came in complaining of a hurt back and asked for pain med, would she get them? I was told she would not be turned away. This is exactly what her friend did. Something smells really bad in WV.

TO CITIZEN,LMAO Then maybe you should carry one with you or quit smoking or are you the type to toss them out the window and bounce them off of other cars or smoke one without regard to other people. I would venture to say you are one of those disrespectful type. So no I'm not gonna look harder.

To Sherri--I would like to know where you found out about the immunization recall. My grandchildren have a medicaid card and I would like to know more about this. I am not a bit surprised. I have not been able to get a pediatrician in Charleston to take the card because the State of WV refuses to pay thier bills. Maybe that is why these kids got tainted shots!!!!

Christi, I agree with you. We need to look at the candidates credentials, background, and platform. We have too many people who want to run on their name. In Nicholas County, we have a former president of the WV Senate who is running for commissioner. He pled guilty to takeing a $10,000 bribe and spent time in the federal penn. I guess he thinks we have forgotton and he will get in on his name alone, Larry Tucker aka CROOK.

Christie, I agree with you. We shouldn't base our preference for president on gender or color. We should examine what we want from our new president, and what they can do for our nation. Dr Martin Luther King Jr would be upset if he saw people continually bringing up the differences he tried so hard to wipe away. He wanted us to treat each other with respect, & kindness, without regards to race creed color, etc. Lest we forget what he died for?

Christi, if you expect everyone at the school to be screened, then I fully expect you and all of the other parents to be screened. As a matter of fact, I think parents should be drug tested regularly and given an IQ test before reproducing. Anyone found to have an IQ lower than 90 shouldn't be able to reproduce.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Posted by: Christi on Feb 8, 2008 at 05:34 AM
As a parent of a Cabell Co. student, I don't have a problem with the drug screening of students. I would welcome the added deterrent. However, I fully expect the teachers and other guardians of my child to be screened as well.

I hope more smoking bans are placed elsewhere. Quite frankly I'm tired of seeing butts everywhere I go to include having butts bounce off my vehicle because the smokers won't put them in 'their' provided ashtray that comes standard in all vehicles. There is enough fiberglass at the exits, entrances, and all redlights to start a fiberglass factory from all the butts thrown out instead of putting them in the provided standard equipment ashtray in all vehicles.

Christie I'm glad I read the posts first. I was going to yell about about the same thing but you covered it. It is ashame that they are the very ones who are gonna set the discrimination rules and regulations but yet one shoots for latina, one shoots for black, but I've been waiting for who is gonna shoot for the redneck or country folk. Sad though, its all on national television, diversity at its best.

My gripe is people who just take forever to drop and go in front of cabell midland. This is not a zone to talk, yell ,argue or whatever you are doing. Please be considerate of the other working parents in the line up behind you! YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!! If you know you are going to be longer than the stop, drop and go that it was designed for go to a parking spot and solve your personal problems there. Thanks and be happy!! You only get one go round in this life-dont spend it making other people mad.

Christie - I agree. I do not belive that MLK would not appreciate "reverse" discrimination. He believed in respect of all persons. So many things have changed for the better in the USA. I believe that he would be happy with the progress that society has made overall and still continue his message of peace and equality for all persons. Unless we teach our children well, there will always be generational ignorance but we are getting better. Our current politial arena should be proof how our country has grown and no book should be judged by its cover. God Bless the USA and Bless those who have fought for our Freedom.

Great post Rob I agree entirely. I dont even have anything to say about it because you said it all the way. Christie another great post and I also agree with you. Why in the world does everything have to be race or minority based? I am sick and tired of it. IF it isn't because white people did something to black people, it is black people did something to white. Now it is a woman vs a black man for president. America is supposed to be the home of the free. Freedom to be different is part of that. I don't get why the race card gets pulled or the minority card or the woman card or any card. We all live in America. Who cares if you are pink, purple, green, square, round, triangular? When Katrina happened blacks cried they were discriminated against. Guess no one tallied how many of the blacks lived there. I am sure Katrina wasn't programmed to wipe out only blacks. Come on America get over it. I am sick of it. We are all equal. Quit yelling discrimination and work like the rest of us who aren't crying because we are minorities. Maybe MLK Jr's dream never really came true.

It is a sad world we are living in when you are doing multiple stories on a pathetic excuse for a "man" and his drug use and dealings!!! How do you believe you are "helping" anyone by running this story. Having him on TV telling the world how he is collecting 2,000 dollars a month from Social Security, and by the way why and how is collecting it? From his drug use? And letting him state the amount that he is making from the sale of the drugs, how is that stearing our youth away from the drugs? Showing the children in the background, how sad! How can you go home at night knowing those children are around this. They should be taken away from BOTH of the "parents"! I am so disappointed in WSAZ for running this story you are just as pathetic as him in my book!!

Stay off your cell phone, if you do not know the proper way to use it. I am so tired of the lack of manners with cell phones. A customer can not even tell the cashier something about her order, for being out shouted by the person on the cell phone chatting about nothing that is important. Out of respect for the other people surrounding you, BE A LITTLE QUIETER! When you are going thru a drive thru do not make the person that's taking your order wait until you can finish what ever meaningless conversation you're having. If it's that important get out of the drive thru. Do not talk to,two different people at the same time. Please, please, please or you are going to be told to get out of line.

fed up with this: There has been many people posting and alot of them are posting on other stuff besides trying to talk down to me and Don. Maybe follow their trend. I also dont think because of how many posts we put up in any way blocks your posts. Maybe use clean language and your stuff will also get posted. Helen: I agree it is getting to hard to have a life anymore. I dont go out and do needless spending and pay all of my bills but Im also at the point where I wish something would give. We need some order put back into these high priced utility bills. I dont see that happening because the utility companies know utilities are a need and not a want. So in conclusion I think they are starting to take advantage of customers because we have no other option but pay. It is time the government make this a priority issue. We are West Virginia a coal state yet we pay more for electric than other states. I dont get it I guess it is just a business thing!!!

The story on the drug dealer upsets me on so many levels. 1st, the suggestion by the reporter that he leads people into further addiction. People are responsible for their own behavior. Not excusing his behavior, but without consumer demand for those drugs he couldn't remain in business. 2nd, it absolutely INFURIATES me to know that this bum is drawing $2000 from the social security system. I doubt he's EVER held a real job. It took my best friend 2 yrs to be granted disability. She has so many health problems, I can't begin to name them here and she worked all of her life until the last couple of years when she absolutely could no longer manage it. $2000 a month?!?!? My friend exists (barely) on little better than $400 a month. Talk about inequality. This is, in a nut shell, what upsets people about the social security/welfare system in our country. You're rewarded for selling & doing drugs with an income 3 times what an average person who actually HAS been a productive citizen gets.

I am SO disappointed by the GOP's Convention results today. What a waste. Huckabee isn't even a close third, and the McCain backers threw their votes to him just to keep Romney from getting the delegates. This kind of back-room political scheming is exactly why I was against a convention in the first place. If West Virginia really wanted to be an important voice in choosing a nominee, why did we throw our votes away on someone who doesn't stand a chance of being nominated? They should have let the people vote for themselves!!!

Marsha...By WV law (Tort Law), the dog is considered a dangerous and deadly animal. The owner has full and sole responsibility of the actions of the animal. You "do" have a right to protect and defend yourself, whether in the city or out of the city. I know this for a fact..as..I have implemented my own action and justice with great success.

West Virginia with a mere 18 delegates being decided on Tuesday will hardly command a campaign trail frenzy here. "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me." West Virginia Republicans need to speak up loudly and strongly to make this both the first and last Republican Presidential convention in this state. Part 2
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Posted by: Tracie on Feb 4, 2008 at 09:58 PM
Senator John McCain won’t be the only one missing in the state’s first GOP Presidential convention. Another 343,435 registered Republican voters won’t be there either. Why? The state Republican party, in its wisdom, has decided that in order to draw attention to West Virginia in the race for President, only 1,446 Republicans will decide which of the candidates will receive the overwhelming majority of West Virginia’s allocated delegates on Super Tuesday. Never mind that those privileged GOP convention attendees only make up 4/10ths of one percent of all the registered Republicans in the state. Never mind, too, that the following states will command much greater attention from the presidential candidates because of their larger delegate allotment: California - 173 delegates; New York - 101 delegates; Georgia - 72 delegates; Illinois - 70 delegates. In fact, more than 20 states, with more than 1,000 Republican delegates at stake, will be participating in Super Tuesday. Part1

How much will it take to get the city of Huntington to come paint some lines on 20th Street? Out of towners don't realize that there are actually two lanes because middle lines are completely gone. It's becoming more dangerous just because cars meander all over the road! I'm tempted to spray paint lines on myself one night!

To Don and Thomas, I realize that you two really enjoy the feeling of success that you have when someone responds in a negative fashion. It is obvious when no negativity is left and you create it. People are doing their best to explain how they are having posts left out only to see 3 and 4 at a time posted for you. They are asking that you make your statements and move on. Other people want a chance. And just so you know there is no need in leaving some big line of crap answer because I don't care and won't return to read it. I am through with wsaz.

Is there still such a thing as a beginning driver manual? Many drivers out there need to revisit such manual. When I got my license the left hand lane was the passing lane. Not now ... seems the left hand lane is the talk on your cellphone lane. I work in Barboursville and drive Route 60 every day. Amazing to me the ridiculous number of cars I can pass by traveling in the right hand lane. GET OFF YOUR PHONES AND DRIVE PEOPLE !!

Kanawha County should have a leash law. I live in an unincorporated area, so we fall under the Kanawha county law. My Pug was attacked on my property by a large husky mixed dog. He has 14 broken bones. We have numerous dogs running around the neighborhood unattended. I was bitten last summer by a pitbull, that by the way is still running loose. I have two small children and either of them could have been the one that was attacked instead of our dog. It is ridiculous that we can't do anything about this. This comment is in response to the interview and story Randy Yohe did on Robert Drowns. I'm still puzzled why the station thought he deserved to have his side of the story told. We lost 2 innocent children and a mother in one of the most gruesome crimes I've ever known. There is enough evidence on Drowns to keep him locked up and eventually convict him, but he got to show his smooth side and try to place the blame elsewhere. Justice was not served by giving him the opportunity to try and gain support from the viewers. If only the victims had been that same opportunity. I watch WSAZ News often, but I must say I lost some respect for the station when they felt the need to carry this story. I understand that Drowns was in court today and again Randy Yohe showed up. Please, Please, Please look at your footage on this crime and listen to the details. Surely you can find a better way to get the viewers attention than supporting this evil man.

I agree Sherri something is definately wrong with your story. Im not aware of the story but yeah I can understand it. As far as I see people with state medical cards do get treated differently. Maybe the government figures that they can be test bunnies for there experimental cheaper immunizations. Even some of your health physicians treat them differently with a medical card even though they still get paid for the job. I say some because not all do I think Thomas is one of the better hospitals in the charleston region when offering health care for children. WIC comes in a close second but they have many flaws also. They rather you stay in the hospital for days to get paid for boarding rather than giving you a diagnoses and a treatment plan (which should only take a couple hours top). I know not all cases are the same but you dont need to stay all night for a treatment plan for a virus or flu-like symptoms circulating around. A good place u can go for a treatment plan is webmd.com

Any resident of St Albans should have received a letter from the Municipal Utility Commission (MUC) and Mayor Dick Calloway. Seems our pipes are 80 years old and they want to increase our water fees. I do not mind paying the increase until the renovations are complete, but this will not be a temporary increase. I am just outraged that the council and the mayor are willing to go into debt to buy the old Alban theater when the water pipes and the bridge need to be replaced. There is supposed to be a meeting on Feb 19th concerning the water increase. I urge ALL St Albans residents to attend. The council will end up turning us into the next bankrupt Nitro if we let them to continue to buy stuff we don't need.

I am appalled that parents act the way they do at organized sporting events. I cannot understand how it makes 6 and 7 year old kids "harder" or "tougher" to yell at them in front of their team for not playing as well as expected. Some people like to say that it is "testosterone", but I know just as many mothers that are guilty of this and fathers that are completely innocent of ever acting that way. Why do parents do this?

I was wondering how many viewers knew that there was a recall on infant immunizations. Only those who receicve state medical cards received this tainted vaccination. None, as far as I know, were notified by their physician about this. Those with private insurance were not immunized from this batch. I wonder why those with state medical cards receive different vaccinations. Aren't they all supposed to be the same? Is the health of our children (state med.card receipiants) any less valuable than those with private insurance?

OH yeah today is the Super Bowl. Well I have to say Im a niners fan but I have to give it to the patriots this year they have been amazing. I would actually like to see them set the record for all records this year.(My niners have no chance in ****!) I mean they have already beaten the Giants two or three times this year. Even if the Giants do win the superbowl I wouldnt consider them the real champions. Even so the niners are still the greatest in history when it comes to super bowl championships. They got 5 rings and went five times. Undefeated anytime they had an oppurtunity for a championship. Thats when they had Joe Montana and Jerry Rice though and Joe Montana's son Steve Young. Whelp yeah a flashback to good times. Anyways I would like to be the first on the WSAZ blog to congratulate The patriots for their Super Bowl in. (YEah Im not superstitious). Although even if you were I still dont think that would help the Giants. lol

I want to complain about the gas heating bills I recieve. Mountaineer Gas is crazy high. Just a few more bucks and Ill be paying in gas what I pay for mortgage. Gas to heat my house is the biggest burden as far as bills are concerned. I swear between gas for cars and natural gas to heat my house Im almost in debt. I wish my flatulence was worth as much as these other gases!! I guess Ill just keep giving it away for free for now though!!

Mark: yeah you can make a comment as long as you choose your words very carefully.. People on here like to critique you on grammar, literacy, and personal opinion. I can already see though you are no different. (cant come up with a thought to blog about). Just another poor sole playing the ski olympics in mine and Dons pockets. Just hold on tight like everyone else. Lady: Don was just trying to make the point that if u want to try to belittle someone at least do it properly. As far as for my comment of you being a "hypocrite" that was properly placed beside your name. So as for your comment is concerned I do not have to google the obvious. OK well a little over 300 characters left to say something. Well let me see I heard Mitt Romney won Maine. That is awesome. Great job people of Maine. I believe you have picked the greatest candidate in the presidential election. I figured he would be beating McCain by a landslide. But I guess the powerful repubs want the war hungry old guy in there.

wtf: Me and Don are not the same person as for others on here Im not sure that may be the case. Wondering: Sorry to jump to conclusions and thank you for helping me say the obvious.. Some of these people are clueless..Everytime I defend myself I feel as if Im talking to the retarded.. But I think even retarded people can understand the things I say.. So i dont know what that makes some of these people..CJ: Even the military is not equal when it comes to gender... Tell me how I have to do like 70 pushups to pass a PT test and a woman does like 15 and passes and gets a higher score. Is that fair??? I hear that crap about how a womans body is not shaped like a mans well then should men and women be equal when it comes to physical performance??? So get off your femonist soapbox!!! Citizen: The point of the I.Q. test deal was to let people know that because they think they r more intellegent than others doesnt give them the power to voice for others.
