This is a good day...We were driving 15 mph by Cabell Midland. A car sped past us in the turning lane going at least 40 mph. A county cop pulled her over. She also had a child in the front seat with no booster or seat belt. I say Horay to the cops for that one. Then in Milton, passing the Middle School, they got another speeder. Actually 2 cops got her, county and town. YEAH!!!!!! These people need to be fined to the fullest. They have the lives of our kids in their hands. Again I want to say thanks to the cops that sit there everyday and make these ppl slow down. And to the ones that "get one" Congrats!!!!

This is about one of the other stations stories on Friday night. Reporting that a viscious Pitt Bull was running loose and tried to attack a mail carrier. My question is what does the Charleston PD and Humane officer have to say about the blood pouring from its face? If this was the same instance and with a different dog it would have never made the news. Pit Bulls ARE NOT MEAN!!!!!!! Their owners make them mean, and let them run loose. Lets forget about being politically correct and haul in the people who own the dogs. Why should this dog leave its pups? What made this dog go after the mail carrier? I hope that the news media really enjoys giving innocent animals a bad rap instead of going after the owners. After seeing it on the news this animal was terrified, I guess any human that was tazed twice and drug by a cable would be terrorfied too. By no means should the owners be let off on this, the dog is their responsibility.

All the truckers need to do is stop delivery for one day, and then see what grinds to a halt. The "extra" surcharges the shippers pay doesnt get passed down to the driver, only part even for owners in the company I contract with. The part that does get passed sometimes is the only profit made on a load of freight. Doesnt seem right beings they dont buy a drop of fuel for my truck. I have a truck for sale, but nowadays, a person might as well have property for sale in downtown Bagdad.

The leprechaun, in your weather forecast segments, needs to lose his pipe. As a smoke-free Irishman, I am concerned about the message you are sending the children in your viewing area. Please put your leprechaun on the patch !!!

I love the weather reporting but it absolutely drives me crazy hearing Tony Cavilier saying "Oh by the way" over and over each day. Please find a new phrase. There are plenty of others to use.

The gov't tried fixing prices back in the 70's. I believe it led to gas shortages. No one wants the government (who proves time and time again how inefficient they run things)to tell them what they are allowed to make (unless you work for minimum wage or collect welfare, then dependence of the gov't is the only hope you have). When the gov't steps in and dictates prices, the price will fix, but the commodity will become scarce.

I jsut want to voice my opinion on high gas prices. We are a family of 4 and have had to totaly restructure our means of living. I really hate the fact that my kids see my wife and I keep making less and do alot less and can hardly keep up. Nice examp for our children who will have to continue after us. I know that our Government could stand for Americans and say enough is enough but really why should they?? Most own stock in the Greedy price gouging oil companies. Most of them smile while there Huge SUV's are being filled any time of day by someone else? Why does it matter to them when they don't have to worry about food prices rising due to gas prices? Why should they when there stomach's are full and houses are warm on a blistering cold day? Why should they when it isn't efecting them? Why should they when they can hold there heads high and be with there family not worring about how they are going to make it thru the week? Again I ask WHY SHOULD THEY?

Hoo Ray for WSAZ! It is about time someone lets the public know the situation with the truckers and diesel fuel prices.I have drove for 40 yrs, even as I served my country.I own my own truck and it is a struggle to buy fuel.Thank goodness the kids have grown and are on their own, or they would starve. What has this country come too? We are slaves to foreign oil. People need to realize that all we eat and all we wear comes by truck. What is gonna happen when it is not profitable to deliver freight to the stores, no one is gonna do it for free. And the future does not look any brighter!!!

You know Frank, I forgot about Steve Lerose. The media didn't leave him alone for one minute, and he did a good job as mayor of Summersville. But, he did commit a crime. He ran for mayor again, but the people didn't vote for him. I believe the people of Nicholas County won't let a bigger crook like Tucker back in the public trust again either. All people in Nicholas County who agree, let's get out to these shindigs all over the county and ask Tucker how we can trust him now. And please, WSAZ, someone needs to run a story on this. Our county newspaper is more afraid of hurting someone's feelings than being interested in reporting the news.

Actually if you listen closely the American dollar is decreasing in value and there is no way we can stop that now. It costs more American dollars to buy the stuff now than it did a couple years ago. Quit worrying about having the Government worry about all the stupid little issues like gay marriage and all that nonsense and start worrying about how the Government is spending money or letting the Fed. Reserve make fake money. But people won't worry about the big issues until it is to late and the Government has to much power to change. The Government can't and shouldn't control how much a company charges for gas unless it is gouging and it isn't so let it be. Instead write your state officials and beg of them to drop the taxes they have on it temporarily though that probably won't work either.

Posted by: terry on Mar 12, 2008 at 01:03 PM
The government doesn't set the gas prices you are right, but they could put a stop to the price increases the companys are getting away with. The same gas in the tanks this morning cost the same as it did last night, unless they had them filled since then. Still if there were record earnings a year ago, how can one believe that the cost to produce a gallon went up that much. If one can make that kind of profit, then the cost to produce the same gallon could not have increased to much. I feel the government is responsible also because for example let a public utility want an increase in rates, they have to be able to justify them to a commity.

It would be so nice if someone were to do some investigative reporting on the parking ticket issue in Ashland, Ky. Unless you have the need to go there and experience this for yourself you have no idea what a hassle this is. There can be as many as 41 empty spaces, and only a handful of cars parked in the same area, and they city is like vultures on a piece of dead meat trying to make sure they ticket cars who stay over two hours. It does not matter if you put money in a meter. What matters is that the vehicle is moved every two hours. This is an inconvenience to business owners, customers, and those who unknowingly park their vehicles only to find their welcome is worn out after two hours. You would be surprised to learn which areas are targeted, how many times tickets are given without the chalk mark of doom on tires, and how many tickets are given when time still exists on the meters. It is a big problem for economic development falling on deaf ears!

the goverment has nothing to do with raising the gas they have no control except the tax we pay on it so if holding the goverment responsible i gues so only for the tax they could lower the tax to help us

Gas Prices: I say shame on the government. When this all started, the oil companys were Bragging about "RECORD EARNINGS" so how dumb do they think we are? I think we all should get together and boycott the gas for one or two days, and I bet the companys would see how much there "RECORD EARNINGS" would be.SHAME ON THEM.

ABOUT THE GAS PRICES GOING UP I THOUGHT THE ONLY TIME THEY COULD RAISE THE PRICES IS WHEN THEY GOT A NEW SHIPMENT OF GAS WITH THE NEW PRICE .DID EVERYONE IN WV GET A GAS SHIPMENT AT THE SAME TIME ? WERE PAYING A NEW PRICE FOR THE OLD PRICE THEY PAID SOUND FISHY

I don't understand why people attack others on these boards. I may comment back, but I do not attack. My main reasoning for postings the things I have is because I think some people out there may be interested to know what really happens I like to try and give people the info they need to make those decisions. All I ask of everyone is to not bash people just because they give their opinion or want others to understand. I don't come on here to start arguments but yet every time I voice my opinion someone has to attack, lets chat not argue.

Ask anyone that deals with commodities and they will tell you that prices are set at replacement cost. If a gallon only cost me 2.50 yesterday, but the cost to replace it costs 3.50 today, I'm going to sell it for what it costs to replace.

I just want to know why gas prices seem to go up almost instantly when the price of oil is announced. What is bought today does not become gas that fast. Let the price per barrel of oil go down and it takes weeks for the price of gas to go down.

Maybe you should read this site http://www.circuses.com and educate yourself on how these animals are trained. Please as your reading and/or watching try to think about the pain they put those animals through, try not to think of them as just animals though think of them as a living thing, because that is what they are. I am not trying to make anyone mad I am just trying to educate, and show people that we should not be supporting the animal abuse that goes on in the circus environment. I liked circuses before but that was before I started reading into them , if you like animals then you would not want to support that.

Posted by: dave on Mar 11, 2008 at 01:25 PM
Dang Steve. What happened to you? Did a circus clown butcher a monkey in front of you as a kid?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Posted by: Sophie on Mar 11, 2008 at 01:08 PM
To Dave & Steve - I'm sure that if B&B Circus treated their animals badly, they would be out of business. For some animals, their natural environment is no longer a safe place to live and suffer from poachers, pollution and population expanding into their habitat. While the circus is not my type of entertainment, some folks enjoy it. The animals are not the only performers. I would much rather see some of our do-nothing elected officials jumping through a flaming hoop. Now THAT would be ENTERTAINMENT. Dave, please don't be rude to Steve, he is entitled to his opinion. No doubt you wrote your comment while you were at work in your cage. I hope they let you out soon. It is nice outside today.

The childhood obesity problem in WV is largely due to video games. They need to come up with a Wii or video game that involves diet and excersise.

Hey Dave I do have a job and I don't need to buy a life I have a family and they are my life. You are not forced to work those animals are forced to do the things they do, and most of the time abused in the process. I am just caring about the animals safety and am not in support of the abuse at all. If you want to see animals go somewhere like the Columbus Zoo where they live in their natural habitat. Plus it is educational AND they have introduced many animals back into nature like the Bald Eagle.

for steve'''''ditto your comments on the circus.

Hey Steve.... People are in cages and doing stupid tricks. It's called having a job. Why don't you get one. Then maybe you can save up enough money to buy a life.

Regarding the post comment below about Barnum and Bailey please don't have a contest for those tickets. The poor animals in that circus, such horrid conditions. Lets put some humans in cages and make them do tricks and jump through fire instead. Sounds good to me.

when steve lerose ran for mayor of summersville newspapers and tv stations talked about his prison time all the time .now that larry tucker,ex state senator, who pled guilty to extortion of $10,000.00 from a lobbist .then spent over 30 months in a federal prison .he is now running for nicholas co. commission .why don't the news people report about that.

When I first saw the straw, being in the mind set that I was looking at a children's "toy", I thought I was looking at a rocket ship. Unfortunately, we cannot change everything to take into consideration where people's minds are. Either they see something as it was meant to be or they do not. Everyone can find something wrong with everything if that is what they want to do.

How silly can you get. I don't like walmart but, to look at straws and think they look like male parts you much have your mind in the gutter already. let us not be so, silly and really to jump on everything just so, we can get on tv. people are you really that desparate? Do you really need that much attention?

To Debbie, I don't care if it is all bridge or not. The entire road was ice covered. If the Division of Highways had enough brain power, they would use traction providing materials on the roads and bridges. People in Randolph, Pocahontas, Tucker, etc have treacherous mountains and winding curves to manipulate a vehicle through and wreck less. I can drive down Route 60 from Charleston to Hurricane and see more wrecks in 30 minutes than you see in 30 days up there. Why, cause they treat the roads properly and have enough common sense to slow down and use extreme caution or better yet, they just stay home. It is amazing how much further common sense goes compared to book smarts. So to your DUH comment, it just shows how challenged you are.

The IRS is going to spend $40 Millon Dollars to send out letters to tell us we are going to get a Rebate Check.. here is an idea have them, the IRS boys, go by the Treasury Dept. and drop 3 one dollar bills in with the rebat check and forget the stupid letter...
