To Pete, Cats do not like moth balls. Try putting a few around your trash can area. My mother put some in her flower bed and they don't use it for a litter box anymore. They don't like walking on egg shells either, but the egg shells are kinda trashy looking.

Sick,It always helps to look on the bright side! Because it can always be worse! When I think that I am at my breaking point I turn back to look at all the things that I have to be Thankful for.But you have the right attitude by looking at it in that way.If you look at it that way I think that it is very possitive.I know alot of people who would be so glad to have their holidays and summers off with their kids. Isnt that what its really all about? Our kids?As long as we have our families we are rich even if we dont have but a dime in my purse!Just hang in there..think before you spend and things will eventually get better.

I was undecided on my vote until I dove heavily into each candidates websites to see who could comprehensively give me in plain english the topics and solutions I truly believe in for America. Vague answers would not cut it. I read each with an open mind, unbiased as to party, sex, religion or race. After comparison, Barack Obama's website was direct & far superior. It was easy to understand, and offered solutions & innovative ideas for the future. The Clinton era economy is long gone, and I wish McCain had been elected 8 years ago. We need to move forward & not be afraid of positive change. By the time anyone reads this, the primary will be over. Before Nov. take the time to do the research and don't believe false rumors or stupid emails. It is your duty as an American Citizen to check out the facts just like I did - with an open mind and open eyes.

I just heard on the news this morning that the barrell of crude oil was coming down because of the earthquake in China. The gas stations have raised the prices to 3.95 in Cross Lanes today. Why? Because they know that everyone will be out in their cars today to vote and it's senior day at Krogers.

To WSAZ; I really don't care if this gets posted or not. I am just a viewer, & online reader that would like to comment on the whole "don" thing. I have noticed his comments for several months now. Sometimes he is rude to others, & yes some of his comments are pointless. Just incase this is posted; Don I can't be specific, because you post so many things, it's hard to keep up with them all. I would just like to say, that if Don is allowed to continue posting stupid things, then maybe others will stop posting all together. Maybe they should ban the YELL all together. That way the only one commenting on Don, would be Don. Have great day just the same.

I shudder to think that someone only has 70,000 to make it on......try being disabled and living on 1,030 a month and making house payments and paying bills.

who is the goober named don who has all ideas for all situations and comments of others. Could he be the bozo who calls in to the morning radio show of tommy rotten??

to angie, you are right. I guess that once you stop and think about the fact that my children have in essence been raised by someone else it is tempting to quit work. However, at this time looking forward I see that in a couple more years I won't have child care because they will all be old enough for school. Being a teacher helps tremendously because I have from 3:00 every afternoon with them. I have all weekend, every holiday and most of the summer. I just keep thinking that once they are in school that I won't be strapped for cash every day. The summer is when I am happiest. I just keep thanking God that my children are as smart and well rounded as can be. My 6 year old already reads on a sixth grade level. I guess it will eventually work out.

Im sick of all the cats running around and tearing up the trash in our neighborhood. Im not just talking about 2 or 3 cats, more like 20 or 30. To beat all they are coming from one house. Our local animal control cant do anything to resolve this because there is no leash law for cats. I have nothing against animals, as a matter a fact I love cats in particular, however I dont love them enough to re-bag my trash several times a week and smell cat spray when I walk out on my porch. Something should be done about this.

They are black Americans, most of them couldnt tell you the first thing about Afirca or their heritage anywasy there to busy keeping up with rap music and bling.

Why has there been no arrests in the murder of Paul Blake??????? Has HPD just forgotten him and his family? I just wonder where the investigation is going and if there is any new information so that HPD can and will arrest the idiots that are responsible for Paul's death.

Sick, It is very hard at times to make it. But I will be very truthful to you. I worked a job 5 yrs ago with all benefits and and my hrly pay was 13.00 an hour if I were working now I would be making about 20hr. But due to myself and my daughter both being sick I gave it up after 13 yrs but things have worked out. Its tight...no lie but I am so much happier at home where I should have been after she was born other than thinking I couldnt make it on what my husband made. You can do anything you set your mind to. Sometimes 2 people working can hurt you more than just one...especially when it comes to daycare and gas to get back and forth. But we are very blessed my husband can do about anything and can odd job around and make extra money. Sometimes it amazes me the things that you can really live without and then when it gets down to it eventually you dont even miss it.It seems that when you dont have money you need everything but when you have it you dont need those things you wanted.

MS, I "bash" the President because I feel he is the worst President ever elected. You have the right to your opinion and you may think he is great, that nothing is his fault but I don't feel that way.

If Burma (Myanmar) doesn't want our aide- bring it to southern Ohio - I know plenty of people in need. When the US takes care of everyone else and not there own - something is wrong. I encourage you to write or call the office of Gov Stickland and voice your opinion. Maybe they(govt) could convert the relief packages into gas cards for all of us working poor peopele! Just a thought.

I just wanted to gripe about the bus driver of Kanawha Co bus 612 on May 9th he let a child off the bus near DuPont middle school I was the first car coming towards him and even though he had his flashing lights on he didn't even bother putting out the stop sign until the child was half way around the bus. This can be very dangerous so please be more careful next time don't open those bus doors before the sign is out and people are stopping make sure our children are safe!

So, is anyone else disappointed about the Stimulous checks? My family was supposed to get ours this past week and the government just keeps holding it off. Everyone that I know that has gotten it wasn't supposed to get the check until later in May. What is going on?

Hey Roane Co., why must you always bash the President of the United States? It's not his fault about the fuel prices. At least there isn't any terrorists in your back yard.

Posted by: Ari on May 9, 2008 at 03:11 PM
I will prob. vote for Hillary just bacsue i dont want someone black fro president. It's bad enuf Most black( and yes it's black Not African American) think you owe them somehting , they will really be all into themselves if there is a black president. But i dont think we should have a woman either. I would vote for Bill again if he ran, he may have sucked in some ways but he did a good job witht eh economy when he was in office.

I know anyone can promise anything, but the bottom line Hilary Clinton has no idea how the adverage West Virginian lives. She is a bigger fraud than her husband and if by some ghastly mistake she could steal enough votes to be the next President of the United States, watch out, It will be nothing but Tax increases and big spending.

Posted by: Anon on May 9, 2008 at 09:56 AM
If Hillary Clinton bows out of the race, I for one will NOT be voting in November. I refuse to give Obama or McCain my vote!!!!

I left out a few important details. We have horrid credit from stupid mistakes when we were in college. I have two vehicles that were used when we bought them but we needed reliable transportation. The payments on those are way too high because of our horrible credit. My husband pays an outrageous amount on child support for his first child and we still take care of him most of the time. We are in essence paying double for him. I don't know how you can do it on 30,000. I realize that our total income should be considered adequate but it doesn't work out that way. I have tried to sell and trade my vehicle to reduce payments.( but my credit won't allow me to come out close to even or make it any better) I have tried to find cheaper daycare(that doesn't exist). Of my 1800 monthly bring home after taxes, I am paying over 600 in child care. I don't expect anyone to feel sorry. I wish I could say that I waste my money. At least I could squeeze a little more.

Posted by: RoaneCo. on May 8, 2008 at 07:11 PM
I vote and I pay taxes so I can complain about prices of gas etc... if I want. I guess Ari and that sorry President we have thinks everything is just fine with the economy.

Sick,OVER 70,000 a yr. You would have a cow at our house.30,000 a yr here and we have a child with spina bifida. Even if you divorced your husband and tried to get welfare you probably wouldnt get it because you would still make or own too much.We over qualified for a medical card for our child by $50.There are many of us out there scrapping to take care of our children because we CANT get a Med.Card! I pay WV CHIP 35.00 a month and I still cannot get the supplies for my daughter because they do not cover it!We make it.Its tough sometimes but you do what you have to do to take care of your child even after a house payment and bills every month.Just be glad that you have a good life and wonderful children. Money isnt everything. You would be suprised what many of us doing without do to make sure our kids get what they need.I just feel blessed to have what I have. Just stop and ask yourself before you buy something if you really need it to survive.I do and I have survived and I'm happy.

Ari, I was pertaining to what had happened to me...not to the other event. I meant anything that happens to anyone domestic or otherwise. Sorry that I didnt word it exactly right. My point was have some respect for people in a time of sorrow. I guess the song Dirty Laundry by Don Henley says it best sad to say. Nothing is off limits when it comes to news...sometimes I just think they cross the line. I guess I feel for the loved ones and can sympathize with how they feel.

Posted by: sick on May 8, 2008 at 11:29 AM
NO Ari, I don't have a cell phone or drive a 50,000 dollar car. I don't ever buy anything at the mall. I only shop clearance racks and buy groceries on sale with coupons. However, once my taxes and insurances, social security and medicare all come out my 32,000 that I make becomes 25,000. I have had too many hospital bills that are hard to overcome. I have a child who had a huge cyst that had a chance of being cancerous removed. I spend several hundred dollars on my kids in the classroom where I teach. I also have to get to work. I am spending more than 15 a day just to go to work and back home. That doesn't count utilities-basics, water, electric and gas.. That doesn't include child care which is outrageous. So before you go blowing that I am wasting, remember, money looks good on paper as a total but once you start subtracting the important things like children and utilities, things start looking mighty thin. So Ari, my suggestion, don't judge a book by its cover!

Posted by: Ari on May 8, 2008 at 09:06 AM
Sick and Annon- I didnt say I had everything thing my little heart desires but i live within my means and dont have to worry about money. You may make 70000 a year but If your not living in your means then no your not going to make ends meet. DO you have cell phone, drive nice cars, dish tv, do you shop at the mall and buy unecessary things? If yes then your not, cut out the cell phone and the dish and buy only what you must then if you cant afford it, you have the right to complain.

The other day there was an article about the man with the domestic battery getting in trouble for having a rifle. My question is does it not get expunged after 10 years of a clear record if it is a misdemeanor domestic battery?

Posted by: sick on May 7, 2008 at 11:00 PM
My husband and I make over $70000 a year. I would consider that working class. However, this working class household is struggling to buy groceries and gas. It wouldn't matter if I had no kids or 20 kids I still can't afford it so ARI quit worrying about it if you can afford it. I think I might divorce my husband, quit my job and live on welfare with my 3 boys!

I just wanted to say that I think that Shoals Elementary School is the best in the area. The teachers are wonderful. Glad to know that my tax dollars are being put to good use.

Posted by: Anonymous on May 7, 2008 at 08:31 PM
Ari, most of the people that i have heard complain about the prices are the working class. I wish you would keep your discriminatory remarks to yourself.

Posted by: elmer on May 7, 2008 at 07:47 PM
How about this ruse being perpetrated on the local and notionwide voters?? The promise of a reduction or elimination of the federal gas tax that funds the highways we drive on. The pres. candidate cannot make this change in the tax structure and the sitting pres. cannot make this change. A bill must be introduced in congress and passed by vote in the house of reps. Then, the bill must go to the Senate for vote.(old Byrd may wake up for that vote) The bill must be passed by the Senate and sent to Ps. Bush for approval or veto. Now, please tell me how long do you think the process will take and the election will be over and the new pres. will say we must be nuts to listen to such hopeful foolishness from Hillary & McCaine. Thank you. Hillary and McCaine.

Someone please advise Tim Ears that the Kyoto Treaty re; global warming, etc. is pronounced Kee-o-toe, not Ky-oata as he did in newscast of 5-6-08. thank you.

I wish people would stop complaining about the price of everything and get jobs. It's the people who dont work and expect their governemt assistance check and foodstamps to pay for eveything that are complaining about the prices of everything. it they wouould stop spending their money on drugs and their 6 kids by 6 different people. It's not my fault you are stupid and keep getting knocked up.

I just want to say I am proud to be an American Citizen and will gladly vote for my private choice of candidates in the primary. I will not be ashamed as to whom receives my vote. Your signs, TV rantings and flyers left on my doorstep only annoy me and make me thankful that some of the jargon will disappear upon your defeat. Then we will again be bombarded with the remaining contenders groveling for our final vote in November. I wish it were over so alot of these candidates we keep hearing about repeatedly would disappear like they always seem to do and we never hear anything about them again until re-election time or they get arrested for something. Needless to say, I will vote as I always do and exercise my right to an educated guess of whom I might trust to get America back on track. I hope everyone reading this will do the same. VOTE and encourage others to VOTE!

The clip you ran today of the mother calling in the 911 call that she found her son and his girlfriend dead in the bathtub was very disturbing. You have no idea of how those families feel. Being a victim of domestic violence and being tramatized by the event was bad enough but to have it broadcasted over and over on the air is a nightmare for the families and friends. I wish you would give it some thought before you show someones face crying after an accident or interviewing the family. Its heart wrenching enough. When my father was stabbed many years ago WSAZ showed up while they were working on my father. I was just 16....I can still remember how horrible it was. So Please think twice before showing or even playing sound bites from 911 calls. Those are someones loved ones....Please have some respect. I know I never want to see the clip of that day of my life or even hear the three 911 calls made.....so PLEASE think twice...it effects everyone no matter if they know them or not.

YES, MR. ROCKAFELLA, WE WHO WORK EACH DAY WANT TO HAVE OUR TAX DOLLARS GIVEN TO THE PEOPLE WHO SIT AT HOME (DRINK, SMOKE AND HAVE BABIES ONE RIGHT AFTER THE OTHER) SO THEY CAN HAVE GAS FOR THE CAR THAT THE WORKING PEOPLE PAID FOR ANYWAY. THIS IS WHILE WE SIT AT HOME BECAUSE WE CAN'T AFFORD TO GO OUT BECAUSE OF THE GAS PRICES. YES. THAT SOUNDS ABOUT LIKE THE POLITICIANS HERE IN WV.

Don't vote for Margaret Workman. I was at the DMV a couple of years ago, and she came in to have her son take his license test. First, she walked right past the line of people waiting (including me) to the front of the line. Then when she didn't have the paperwork her son needed to take the test (I think the guy working told her a school enrollment form). Well, she threw the biggest fit I ever saw. She cussed the poor clerk up and down. She even pulled the old "do you know who I am?" line. Meanwhile, us "little people" that she cut in front of have to wait while she runs her mouth to the guy. She totally ignored me when I asked her to step to the back of the line and keep her language clean (my kids were there). Finally she bullied a supervisor enough to let him test (with no ID or paperwork). So... Is she THAT much better than us? When can a public official drop F-bombs in the DMV, cut to the front of the line, and get what they want, and we have to wait for them? That's BS to me.
