Wow, thanks for enlightening me even more about how people could consider McCain and Palin. I see now how you would think they are the cream of the crop; however, you asked that I share with you why Obama is worth voting for. Well, here it is. He was raised in a biracial family, he is an attorney, graduating from Harvard Law School, overcoming obstacles that you will never have the opportunity to know. Children face many problems through life, but those who are born in a biracial family have to deal with double adversity. He knows the love of family, his values lie with his wife and daughters, he knows what it takes to live and he understands the struggles of everyday people, he does not profess to know everything and he is willing to listen to all, he offers diplomacy in foreign affairs and is not quick to enter into war. I love my children too dearly, but honey if you need a comparison for your first grader, you should look toward Sarah Palin. I think she is more in his league!

whats the matter ann, your panties in a knot? I guess you're not sitting in front of a computer making any comments. It's people like you that makes everyone else sick, so grow up.

The world is full of ignorant uneducated people who some how learn to use a computer and post their trash on line. I wish they would go out and get a JOB. I am tired of supporting the ones who sit home and get SSI for a fake illness but can sit in front of a computer screen all day you all make me SICK!!!!

to Toni and Mary, I agree, I can't stand Kathy Lee either, she is so conceded. Why in the world would NBC hire her and why in the world would WSAZ want to replace a good show like M&J with her.

CJ, your opinion--you know what they say about opinions, they are like @@@@@@@@, everyone has one. If you can honestly prove to me that Obama is worth voting for, then I would love to hear it. At this point the lesser of the two evils will be McCain and Palin. Neither Democratic pres. or vice is worth the effort in arguing against. We would be better off if my six year old were put in charge. He stands up for the pledge, upholds the services and our police and firemen. He believes in God and both parents are raising him. He has been taught values, respect, and not to argue with ignorance. He stands up for himself and others around him. He also lived the first year of his life in a house without running water and had to take a bath at the neighbors. He now has his own room and many finer things... I guess he really has the rags to riches viewpoint. Why not vote for him, his IQ is 145 and he can read on a middle school level in first grade.Already ten times smarter than Obama.

I watched the first Presidential Debate, and although I know many people who support McCain, I cannot ever in a million years begin to understand their thinking that the man could possibly make competent decisions regarding my country. When I view the interview of Sarah Palin by Katie Couric, this evidences his first action of incompetency. Come on people! She thinks she has foreign affairs experience because Alaska borders Russia. WHOPPEE!! That really makes one feel safe! I suggest everyone view the interview with Couric, because Katie did not have to say a word; the look in her eyes relayed the message to me that she thinks Palin should remain a hockey mom in Alaska. Heck oh Pete, to think of her as a pit bull with lipstick, I have seen poodles more ferocious. It was like interviewing Chrissy on Three's Company, for heaven's sake. Four more years of this will leave the US weak, bankrupt, and extremely vulnerable!!

I liked the "Mike and Julliet Show", but I can't stand Cathy Lee on the "Today Show". Why did WSAZ replace?

In regards to the Indian Head Rock controversy, I do feel that Mr. Shaffer needed to cover his bases before removing it from the river. The land it was sitting on does belong to Kentucky and Kentucky had already listed it as an artifact. However, being on the Ohio side, It is probably fair to say that it is Ohio Native Americans who made it the artifact it is today. Otherwise it would just be another rock in the river. I feel that that this case is taking too many resources that could be used to prosecute actual criminals. Surely this can be settled in another way.

Why in the world did WSAZ replace the "M and J Show" (11 AM) with that horrible "Today" program??? I am really a fan of "M and J" and miss it a lot. If WSAZ cannot schedule it on their prime channel, why not air it on "My Z"?

It looks like it is time for the "have nots" to bail out the "haves" at the hands of the US government. Now, we all have been worth nothing to the Bush administration for the past eight years, but suddenly, we are viewed as the savers of Wall Street. When I found myself a single mother, I was offered $23.00 a month in food stamps as I made too much money (93.00/wk) to qualify for any more. When jobs were shipped overseas, we lost our 401K as we had to have money to live on until we could get back on our feet again. Now, all those greedy little know-it-alls have suddenly landed on their big fat hind quarters, and they feel the need to ask people like us for help. SPENDING took on a new definition with the Bush administration, and it is sickening to hear them talk about the Dems being the big spenders. Sure is something wrong with this picture. Vote in 11/2008 for a change. We all definitely need one!

It is getting very frusterating to see derogatory comments on stories where someone has lost their life. Yesterday my husband lost a good friend due to an ACCIDENT at John Amos... as you all have read. I wish that WSAZ would use much more descretion in allowing comments to be posted. It was very hurtful to read many of the comments about age, neglegence & drugs. Readers: please keep your comments to yourself unless you are expressing condolences to a family that is currently hurting so terribly! Would you like to come to a news website for information on your loved one and be bombarded with angry comments from people who have no idea what they're talking about?? I always try to put myself in another's shoes before assessing a situation... I wish others would do the same. God bless Gary's family and please give them the strength and courage to remain positive during this terrible time in their lives.

Why do you keep cutting off wide screen broadcasts? Dish Network has been contacted, but nothing they are doing is affecting the problem. While I was watching Law and Order SVU tonight, the full screen (which cuts off the sides) switched to wide screen SECONDS before WSAZ breaking news came across the bottom of the screen. Lo and behold, seconds after the breaking news went away, so did the wide screen setting. This now HAS to be something with WSAZ, not with Dish Network.

I just read this story on the front page, you've got to be kidding me....he got charged for farting? "CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- As if getting a DUI wasn’t enough, a man arrested for driving under the influence got in a lot more trouble at the police station. Police stopped Jose Cruz on Route 60 in South Charleston Monday night for driving with his headlights off. Then, he failed sobriety tests and was arrested. When police were trying to get fingerprints, police say Cruz passed gas on an officer. He's now charged with battery on a police officer, as well as DUI and obstruction."

Why should we reward those that are supposedly the most financially savvy for taking substantial risks? I understand that the market has soured and they are now seeing significant losses, but didn’t they stand to gain tremendously if the housing market continued on the meteoric ascent that it started in the early part of this decade. This is a textbook example of the negative convexity of the mortgage backed security and collateralized mortgage obligation market. The purchaser stands to gain if markets behave in their favor; however, if the market takes an adverse turn the potential losses greatly out weigh the potential gains. Please, I implore, do not give support to this bailout. It creates a moral hazard and those responsible will not feel the repercussions of their choices. We cannot allow this to continue. Stop it now and we may avoid a repeat in 20 years.

I sent this to my congressmen. I suggest you do the same: Dear Sir, I am writing to express my anger and skepticism surrounding the proposed bailout of Wall St. What is being purchased? It is my understanding that most of the mortgages have been securitized and sold. Will the US Treasury track down all of the securities and purchase them? If we are to purchase these securities, at what price? I assume a premium must be paid. If the securities could be purchased at market value or a market value can even be determined, then why haven't they been sold in the open market without government interference? Why should Henry Paulson, a man who totally missed this and has been wrong about nearly everything, be trusted with $700 billion? How will the taxpayer benefit from this bailout? Will we receive an equity position in the banks that are rescued? It appears that this is a straight subsidy to the financial institutions. Why should we subsidize those with 8 figure incomes?

I am YELLING about the proposed water and gas rate increases. You do not have to go in and fill out a form, but you do have to voice your opinion in writing. Here's the address for the Water rate increase the case number is 08-0900-w-42T Attn. Sandra Squire, Public Service Commission, p. o. box 812 Charleston, WV 25323 Its the same addess for the Gas companies proposed 46% rate increase. I do not have a case number for the Mountaineer Gas. Please people, do protest. There is strength in numbers. If you are tired of all of the rate increases here lately we have to voice our opinion. My letters will be going out in tomorrow mornings mail. Have a nice day.

Not too long ago, I wrote about a bicyclist on US60 and Ky 180, a four-lane highway with a speed limit of 55 MPH riding in the middle of the highway. Yesterday, as I was driving toward Ashland on Ky 180 and US60, I was about car #7 in a line of traffic in the right hand lane, and there were about 3 cars in the left lane. Suddenly two bicyclists with their cute little spandex shorts and helmets stick out their arms and dart from the right lane all the way over to the left turning lane going out old US60. There was traffic in the right lane that could not see them until they made a mad dash to turn left. If an automobile would have decided to do the same, there would have been two bicyclists squashed like a grape! Someone in the State of Kentucky needs to address this issue before families are facing the loss of loved ones. True gas is high, but folks, a four-lane 55 MPH highway is definitely not a place to ride a bicycle thinking that a little helmet offers security!

In reference to the poll about the US being overpopulated. Of course it is with the illegals. Go to Washington DC an witness for yourself. They don't even speak the language. And when you do go into a business you have no idea what language they will speak. My experience was mostly Arabic. On the other hand California has all the Mexicans where if you don't speak their langauge you don't get service. All true folks. Thats just 2 states I mentioned. So yeah I say again yes we are over populated and being run out of our own country.

If you have a video camera, record the action and turn it into the state police or DEA since you have no faith in the city cops.

Its really a shame. These arent the only DEALERS in Kenova. Everyone knows who they are even the police and they dont do anything about it.I set on my porch everyday and watch the same drug dealers go by my house numerous times making deals in front of my house. People walking to their homes to buy pills from them. When is something going to be done about the people who are RESIDENTS of Kenova that are dealing and getting away with selling drugs to teens??Someone needs to step up?
